The Dominican Chamber of Information and Communication Technologies (Cámara TIC) has urged the traditional private sector and current authorities to help stimulate greater domestic demand for the local tech industry.
This call was made by Edder Herrera, president of Cámara TIC, during the presentation of the strategic plan outlining the organization’s direction for the next two years.
Herrera emphasized the importance of strengthening the national tech industry through increased collaboration between the private sector and authorities, with the goal of creating a stronger internal demand.
The Cámara TIC president outlined the organization’s commitment to promoting diversity in tech offerings and fostering the productive use of ICTs, thereby contributing to sector development and the country’s digital transformation.

“Local information and communication technology companies must focus on raising their standards to offer globally competitive products and services. This will allow them to consolidate their competitiveness both domestically and in international markets,” said Herrera.
Under the slogan “Transforming Together,” the non-profit entity aims to strengthen the national tech industry by fostering collaboration between its Board of Directors, companies, and professionals. “Our goal is to drive sustainable digital transformation that not only addresses current challenges but also enhances the sector’s competitiveness,” Herrera affirmed.
As part of its agenda for the next two years, Cámara TIC has identified cybersecurity as a top priority. In this regard, Herrera emphasized the need to balance the state’s access to tracking, surveillance, facial recognition technologies, and data protection, with respect for citizens’ rights.
The organization also called for a review of the Data Protection Law, which currently exempts public officials involved in state security from responsibility. The entity stressed the importance of establishing clear limits to prevent the trafficking and improper manipulation of personal data, promoting a more ethical and transparent approach to information management.
The presentation of the 2024-2026 Strategic Plan was attended by Cámara TIC’s Board members, including Mite Nishio, vice president; Pedro Sistachs, treasurer; and Jeinmy Lluberes, secretary, along with vocal members Layi Félix, Tony Ramos, Neuston Galván, George Reinoso, Rafael Cruz, and Julio Romero.
